Q&A with The Other Art Fair

Please share a little about your background. Are there any particular themes, experiences, or influences that consistently appear in your work?

I’m an abstract artist from Buckinghamshire, and my work is all about vibrant, dopamine inducing colours, textures, and mixed-media mark-making. At its heart, my art is a celebration of joy, freedom, and self-expression—each piece is a playful, intuitive journey that’s completely one of a kind.

For over 15 years, I have worked in marketing and advertising, a fast-paced world that I loved but often left little room to pause and reconnect with myself. Art started as a way to unwind and find moments of calm, but it quickly became so much more—it’s now my happy place, where I can truly play, dream, and create without limits. That sense of wonder and simplicity, like the feeling of being a child again, is something I try to infuse into every piece I make. It’s my way of sharing a little burst of joy and freedom with others.

What sets your art apart from others? Is there a unique perspective or message you aim to convey through your work?

I believe my art radiates a hopeful vibrancy, and is designed to spark happiness, playfulness, and a sense of freedom in everyone who experiences it. It's a joyful counterbalance to the fast-paced, often overwhelming nature of modern life. It’s bold and unapologetic—much like the way we all live as children. Through my work, I hope to give people a gentle reminder to seek out the beauty in life’s small moments, to find the colours hidden in the grey of the everyday, and to embrace the pure joy of simply being present.

Could you highlight any significant projects, exhibitions, or collections you've been a part of?

The Other Art Fair London will be my very first exhibition, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m thrilled to be meeting other inspiring artists and share my work with potential new collectors and customers. Until last summer, art was just a beloved hobby, but I’ve since embarked on a mission to turn my passion into a career for the second half of my life. Being accepted to TOAF feels like an incredible first step on this journey.

How do you see your art contributing to or reflecting the current art scene or cultural conversations?

In a world that's often overwhelmed by information and visual overload, I see abstraction as a way to cut through the noise and offer a space for personal interpretation and connection. My work reflects themes that resonate with today’s cultural conversations, such as identity, impermanence, and the interplay between chaos and harmony. By using colour, texture, and pattern in innovative ways, I aim to create pieces that not only capture the viewer's attention but also invite them to explore their own thoughts and feelings.

What are your future aspirations or goals you'd like to achieve within your artistic career?

Right now I’m focused on experimenting with different techniques to really discover my artistic voice. I’m super excited about some upcoming opportunities to show my work in local group exhibitions—it feels amazing to share my art with others and connect with the community in such a personal way.

Looking ahead, one of my biggest goals is to hold my own solo exhibition and start getting my work out to a wider audience. It would be a dream to see my art traveling beyond my local community and even reaching galleries in other parts of the world.
